Prints

These prints are the first reproductions of oil paintings and drawings from Trey Friedman’s Trees on a Line series, which the artist began in 2004. Isolating a group of 170 trees along a road in rural Connecticut into a finite set, Friedman draws and paints this selection of trees, one by one, in the fashion of a parlor portraitist. The project provides a means for the artist and the viewer to study individual trees minutely, over the course of an extended, respectful period of time.
